Genocide alert for the West Bank too
JVL Introduction
The Lemkin Institute (named after the person who more or less invented the term “genocide”) has issued this statement outlining a number of ways in which what is happening in the West Bank is “part of an overwhelming push on the part of the Israeli authorities to oust Palestinians from their remaining ancestral lands. In other words, Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians across Palestine.”
Given the horrors and sheer level of destruction befalling the people, places, institutions and infrastructure in Gaza, the attacks, killings, injuries, displacement and destruction as well as the huge numbers incarcerated in the West Bank, especially since October 7th are not being reported fully or frequently enough. Before October 7th, violence in the West Bank was already unprecedentedly high with a huge rise in the number and severity of settler attacks (eg in Huwara in February 2023) and Israeli military forces killing more Palestinians in the West Bank in the first nine months of 2023 than in any year since 2005 when the UN started recording the Palestinians who had been killed. In the past six months, the numbers have risen exponentially so that it is only by using the terrifying numbers of Palestinians i Gaza who are dead, damaged and displaced as a comparitor that the West Bank horrors can seem more “modest”.

Israel is Committing Genocide across Palestine: Active Genocide Alert Condemning Ongoing Violence in the West Ban

It’s Ethnic Cleansing and murder, yet the world watches on and does nothing, not even publishing any of these atrocities. The BBC goes out of its way to avoid reporting anything that’s happening in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. We see photos and videos on Twitter of the violent way they are evicted by Settlers, while the IDF watches on, only intervening if the Palestinians fight back, then they move in and join in with the Settlers by beating the Palestinians with batons. There’s no way that the BBC doesn’t get to see these videos. If it’s a Palestinian beating an Israeli, it’s at the top of the News Programme.
What happens next, is anyone’s guess. I believe that Netanyahu and his group of Zionists, have nothing to fear or worry about, so will carry on with their plan to clear Palestine of all Palestinians, steal the land and start a new expanded Israel.
Such an important read
Essential that everything that is happening is documented, all the facts, we must know the truth the reality of what is going on and justice and peace must prevail.
It seems that Israelis (IDF and ‘Settlers’ in particular) pay no attention to one instruction alleged to have been given by God to Moses. It was the core for a “Thought for the Day”, R4, delivered by Bishop James Jones in a fawning discussion, or ‘masterclass’ in the Bishop’s words, he experienced with then Chief Rabbi Sacks. An excerpt follows:
“Some years ago I spent time listening to young people’s dreams and dreads about the future. It made me re-think my own attitude to the environment. What did Jesus have to say about the earth? What were the Jewish and Muslim ethics of Creation?
I went to see the late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. When I ventured that Jews might begin with Genesis he stopped me.
‘No, James. That’s a very Christian way of reading the Bible on this subject!’
‘No’, he repeated, ‘we start in Deuteronomy with God’s instruction to Moses that as they entered the Promised Land they were never to destroy a fruit bearing tree.’ Long before anyone knew the science of climate change there was a religious intuition that trees were central to our ecology.”
So that’s not one of the ‘God given instructions’ used to justify the Jewish arrival in Palestine that has ever been paid any attention to. However the late Chief Rabbi Sacks saw no contradiction, nor did Bishop Jones.
