War crimes through the IDF’s own cameras
JVL Introduction
Al Jazeera has collated filmed evidence of what has been happening – and continues to happen – in Gaza. Creating a chilling documentary War crimes in Gaza that “exposes Israeli war crimes through the use of videos and photographs posted online by Israeli soldiers themselves.”
The article below outlines the database behind the film which was “described by international law expert Rodney Dixon as “a treasure trove you very seldom come across, … something which I think prosecutors will be licking their lips at.”
Just over 18 months on from the start of this particular attack on Gaza, this is important, timely and valuable even though it makes for difficult and enraging watching.

Comments on YouTube about the genocide are increasing becoming blanket anti-Semitism. There has always been a small element of this, but the vast majority of comments I’ve seen up until now have been more nuanced, with great respect for Jewish people who stand up for Palestinians. These sort of comments make Zionist excesses seem necessary – a necessary evil, even. Irrespective of where these comments are coming from, this just adds to the normalisation of supremacist evil from whatever quarter. It feels like things could be moving to a new level. How many “blame them and throw them out” agendas are there in the world? I hope I’m wrong.
Excellent investigative work by Al Jazeera. I hope it leads to prosecutions and sentences for the guilty parties. And this includes the UK who is continuing to supply Israel with weapons.
I have been increasingly unable to view Al Jazeera over the last three months, since it was moved to channel 251. Can anyone help me to get it back? At first there were just delays, but now it will not come up at all.
There is no way back sadly, you can watch it on the Web instead though
Two points.
1. It is not clear what Alistair Hale is writing about?
2. And the change of Al Jazeera channel to a stream is really unfortunate, like the other reader I find it really difficult to get a clear continuous signal.
MALFEASANCE
The deaths in this poem
Are less literal
Than the deaths in other poems
They were largely
The consequence
Of a misunderstanding
An error of detail
The officer in charge
Was wearing night goggles
And so couldn’t identify
The approaching vehicles
Correctly and opened fire
Causing the soldiers
Beside him
To do likewise
It was simply good fortune
There was a bulldozer
Available to dig a grave
And bury the evidence
Of a war crime
