Gaza’s perimeter death zone

Guardian journalists have spoken to IDF combatants corroborating a new report from Breaking the Silence, describing how Israeli forces are destroying everything in a 1km (0.6 mile) wide “buffer zone” inside the Gaza perimeter. It provides “a clear line of sight for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to identify and kill militants” and has become a death zone for any Palestinian who strays into it, however innocently.
Such systematic demolition was already being denounced last September by Amnesty International as likely collective punishment which should be investigated as a war crime. And now evidence is pouring in of further crimes being committed in the West Bank for similar reasons – to provide “freedom of movement” for Israel’s soldiers.
Israel’s atrocities and breaches of international law are becoming so egregious that mainstream media such as the Guardian and BBC can no longer avoid reporting them, even while our politicians continue to grant impunity to Netanyahu and his genocidal crew. Every member of parliament needs to be held to account for allowing this to continue.
