The liberal Jewish community in the States is breaking up
JVL Introduction
We’ve carried many stories about the end of liberal Zionism in the past. But post-October 7th, there is an rapidly increasing polarisation among Jews in the United States, echoed throughout Jewish communities elsewhere. Quite simply, the liberal centre is fragmenting in ways it hasn’t before.
Mitchell Plitnick writing in Mondoweiss is clear that J Street, long presenting itself as the respectable face of the liberal Jewish world, is drifting to the right. It is “Pro-Israel, Pro-Peace” but strictly in that order. Since October 7th it has prioritised Israel’s Jewish ethnocracy and its military hegemony above all else.
It’s no longer, says Plitnick, a question of one state or two. Whatever the form, the path to any decent future has to be democratic:
It will be about whether Palestinians will have equal rights in every way—including the right of return and the right to ensure their own security, just like Israelis. And that means the question for American [and British and other] Jews will ultimately come down to whether we want to continue to insist on an ethnocratic formulation featuring a Jewish state, or whether we will help Israel to abandon the fiction that it can be an ethnocratic and democratic state at the same time. It cannot.

The liberal Jewish community is beginning to fracture over the Gaza genocide
J Street is reportedly losing staff and support as they prioritize Israeli militarism over Palestinian rights. The Gaza genocide is revealing the tension between Zionism and liberal Jewish values, a divide which will only continue to grow more stark.

Any person of conscience knows the current extremist Israeli government is carrying out ethnic cleansing and attempting Genocide. There is no way back for Israel only forward with a single Democratic Palestine with equal rights for all like any normal Democratic country. Zionism has become a deadly dangerous and let’s face it an evil inhuman cult that must be dismantled and destroyed for the sake of humanity and world peace.
Zionism is NOT Judaism.
Zionism is NOT a race or religion but a Supremacist ideology which considers the Genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians its Right.. EXACTLY as Nazism considered it was Right to wipe out Jews…BOTH are Crimes against Humanity. I’ve also seen vile comments online from Zionists about Indians , who for reasons of their own celebrate Israel’s actions in occupied Palestine and say so only to be rebuffed in the most heinous way that dehumanises THEM. Let’s not forget the Nazis hated Gypsies , Black & Brown people.. in fact anyone who wasn’t what THEY considered ” the master race”.. Zionists in Israel spit at and beat up Christian ( And Palestinian Jews). something that’s NEVER reported in MSM.. The similarities between the two are clear.
Is it conceivable that Jews support Genocide
NO
Time to choose between Judaism and Zionism, you can’t have both, thems the rules of basic humanity and history
It is by no logic possible to maintain a state which is both ethnographic and democratic. Whichever one of these a state is, it cannot be the other. This is a problem racist supremacists worldwide refuse to confront, and it is ironic given the totality of Jewish history that it should be Jews who are currently at the forefront of the general fight for racist nationalist supremacy, with Israel as its epicentre and flagship. I cannot understand why it is such a problem for so many Jews to see that there is no contradiction between defending themsleves from anti-semitic attack and opposing Israel’s racist and nationalist policies. It seems obvious that racist nationalism such as has caused Jews great suffering in the past cannot be justified just because its proponents now claim that they are acting on behalf of all Jews. That makes no sense to me: how does it make sense to any-one? Israel’s most effective weapon over the least seven decades has been its use of propaganda, sledgehammer subtle, to maintain the moral high ground. Thank God for those among us who refuse to stand on that particular ground, but have chosen to hold to the ideal that all human beings, regardless of ethnicity, deserve to be treated with humanity.
