“No matter what, our work doesn’t change.”

JVL Introduction

Rabbi Brant Rosen is unyielding in this Shalom Rav blog.

However welcome the change of leadership in the Democratic Party our task in the Palestine solidarity movement in the US remains unchanged: to hold the Biden administration to account for enabling and support Israel’s genocidal violence in Gaza.

Biden had to go because the Democratic Party was haemorrhaging activists and constituencies like young people, Arab and Muslim voters, and many progressives in key states over the issue of Gaza.

The only way to ensure that Kamala Harris’s regime is better is to hold her feet to the fire from day one.

Which is why Rosen and other activists will be attending the Democratic National Convention to protest complicit in the genocide in Gaza.

Why I’ll still be participating in the protests at the DNC next month

  • There’s very little light in this darkness but people like Rabbi Rosen give me much-needed hope for a better future. As do the marchers for peace (here in the UK and globally), our own JVL and Jewish Voices for Peace and the very many who’ve sacrificed their careers – and sometimes their lives – because they REFUSE to be complicit in genocide.

“God needs our hands” … and brains … and time … to protect all of us – particularly the defenceless – against evil.

May help come fast enough to save the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians so imminently at risk of annihilation, maiming and torture. May it be fast enough to save Israelis from yet more personal suffering, moral harm and fear.

  • We talk the talk, we protest, we march, and write daily calls for peace and an end to this genocide. And still Netanyahu grins at the camera because he is still killing more people every day and no one is stopping him. Why aren’t we and the many heads of government who say they agree with us putting international pressure on the International Criminal Court to arrest him and arrest all the leaders of countries who have directly contributed militarily to making this genocide happen? What are they all waiting for?
