Undoing Zionism: “A way to honor my ancestors”

JVL Introduction

In an article for Salon, Ruben Abrahams Brosbe interviews many US Jews about their shift away from the Zionism they were brought up with.

The war on Gaza has been pivotal in accelerating a shift has been long in the making. Quite simply, notions of peace, and racial and economic justice sit uneasily with support for Israel which practices none of these.

33% of Jews today find Israel’s response to Hamas’s attack unacceptable. That rises to 42% mong the 18-34 year-old cohort.

The quotes below chronicle how so many have become disillusioned by political and personal disruptions to their Zionist indoctrination.

Their stories complement well our series of Jewish Journeys from Zionism in the UK here.
