Palestinians and the world must not lose hope

JVL Introduction

Mariam Barghouti writes from Ramallah about the emotional and phuysical exhaustion and burnout among the Palestinians under occupation and siege: “If I were to describe the past 26 weeks, it would be one hour after another of just barely pulling through.”

She adds:

“What stands between our eradication and our survival is you, the global community. As Israel unleashed its genocidal force onto us, it implicated the rest of the world.”

We are all implicated. And, as Passover approaches, we must remember the universal message of the Exodus: “For we were strangers in Egypt.”

We cannot and must not stand aside now.

Palestinians and the world must not lose hope

Those mobilising against the Israeli genocide face exhaustion and burnout. This is the result of Israel’s ‘war of attrition’.

  • Unbearably sad… Yet the Zionists feel no shame. Israel was created out of violence and that violence has dehumanised its people.

Tortured beyond belief, Palestinians are apparently seeking some form of refuge/relief on Gaza’s beach. I read today that Almog Boker, Channel 13’s correspondent said in a post on X, “Absolute victory… This picture (Palestinians on the beach and in the sea) makes my body ache. While on Zikim Beach, our beach is declared a closed military area and we the residents cannot approach it without military escort, on the other side of the fence – the Gazans spend time on the beach and bathe in the sea as if there is no war.”

I’m ashamed, deeply ashamed – and fearful for the future of all of us that this genocide is allowed to continue – just to enable Israel to pocket the vast oil and gas resources of Palestine…
