The shame and the shambles of Israel’s policy on Gaza aid
JVL Introduction
Like a Biblical prophet of old, Israel’s liberal daily Haaretz inveighs against the corruption of King Bibi and his dysfunctional regime, lording it over Palestinians and putting two fingers up to the rest of the world.
The occasion: the destruction of two aid trucks on their way from Jordan to Gaza
Even the U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is outraged – and it takes a lot to outrage the US as we have seen throughout this war on Gaza.
And Haaretz sees all this as “further evidence of the government’s incompetence and its leader”.
Good as far as it goes. Liberal Zionism, out of power and out of favour with the Israeli public, can still roar its disapproval on occasion, calling out “the shame and the shambles”.
But it is still unwilling to go the full distances, to see what is happening as criminal and a clear violation of international law, encouraged and abetted by the real King of Israel, Ben Gvir – to see that the liberal Zionist vision of a “Jewish-and-democratic” country is dead in the water.
The real alternative is clear: a Jewish supremacist, ethno-nationalist, oppressive, apartheid regime; or equal rights for all between the river and the sea.

It is a total outrage that the aid trucks for Gaza were just allowed to be stopped from delivering their aid and vandalised by extreme far right groups of people who it seems have no concern for the starving people of Gaza or in fact any thought as to if they stop food getting in that it will also mean the hostages will also suffer.
