The destruction of Gaza: the first three months
JVL Introduction
Back in March, under pressure from the local Jewish Representative Council, the Manchester’s progressive art centre, HOME cancelled a celebration of Palestinian writing. It was to have included the launch of Atef Abu Saif’s new book Don’t Look Left: A Diary of Genocide.
Thanks to a successful massive protest HOME reversed its decision and the launch finally took place as planned.
Here Mike Phipps, in an article first published on Labour Hub, reviews the book, a daily diary of the first three months of Israel’s onslaught on Gaza. He describes it as “a distressing but essential read”.

Immense gratitude to Mike Phipps for clearly summarising and publicising this devastating book. I was not strong enough to finish it and passed it on to a wonderful activist in Bradford, but I’ve now shared this detailed summary with 20 other people and hope it will continue to spread.
