One year of Israel’s #GazaGenocide – Build BDS!

JVL Introduction

As the months roll by, as the world watches genocidal acts committed in full view of those who could act to stop it but do not, a way must be found to end Israel’s campaign of annihilation against the Palestinian people.

We march, we lobby, we speak out, we take direct action, and we must continue to do all these things. Crucially, now, we must escalate the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign based on a call issued by Palestinian civil society 20 years ago.

We publish here comprehensive guidance from the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) for an international solidarity campaign to isolate Israel’s  76-year-old regime of settler-colonialism and apartheid.

Channeling our Grief and Rage, We Rise for Liberation!

One year since the start of the livestreamed US-Israeli genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip, our people, fragmented by colonialism, stands united in resisting the genocide and the underlying 76-year-old regime of settler-colonialism and apartheid. We call on the global solidarity movement and every conscientious person worldwide to escalate BDS pressure and isolate apartheid Israel and its complicit institutions like never before, in all domains and all platforms.

  • Perhaps the two most important take-aways from this are that

‘Some complain of “genocide fatigue.” Let’s remember that Palestinians, especially in Gaza, don’t have the luxury of “genocide fatigue,” as Israel continues to massacre, starve, forcibly displace and exterminate our people.

and as the writer Nadeem Aslam says,

“Despair has to be earned. I personally have not done all I can to change things. I haven’t yet earned the right to despair.”

  • Essential guidelines. I am thrilled to see my favourite writer Nadeem Aslam cited here, and be reminded that we are part of a worldwide movement.
At present many of us in Camden Friends of Palestine are working to get out council’s pension funds disclosed and disinvested. Grindingly slow, meeting with obfuscation of course, but the lesson I took away from my visit to York university’s sucessful Gaza solidarity camp is: Persist!
