JVL Introduction

A mainstream Israeli podcast called “Two Nice Jewish Boys” has blown the gaffe on Israel’s paper-thin veneer of civilised liberalism by broadcasting, with full-throated approval, calls for erasing every living being in Gaza and the West Bank.

Middle East Eye quoted reaction from journalist Samira Mohyedeen, referring to broadcasts that incited genocide against the Tutsis during the 1994 Rwandan genocide: “Radio Rwanda in full effect here. We publish here commentary from Ha’aretz contributor Hanin Majadli, warning of links with the ultra-nationalist racist vision of Rabbi Meir Kahane, who died in 1990 but has an increasingly dangerous and influential following among today’s Zionists. Her article cites an explanation of the Kahanist vision as “ one that sees violence and revenge as Jewish religious imperatives, and Israel as not being worthy of existing unless it expunges the non-Jews from its midst and its Jews commit to living Torah-observant lives.”
