Devastating video report on Israel’s war crimes

Al Jazeera’s latest investigation makes for devastating but absolutely essential viewing. Some of the material is from social media posts by Israeli soldiers fighting in Gaza; not only is this chilling but it seems astonishing that they are videoing themselves breaking international law, eg killing people who are unarmed, blowing up empty buildings, noting a captive has been tortured and more. I also recommend – if you can bear it – watching the equally devastating documentary ‘The Night Won’t End’ produced by Al Jazeera in June; this focused on the experiences of three Palestinian families and US complicity whereas this latest has a section on the UK’s involvement from its RAF base at Akrotiri on Cyprus.

When one watches footage such as this- absolutely not to be shared amongst family- the first thought is/was, if this could be circulated amongst the nation’s legislators, how could they not act? But there is just so much evidence! So much with which to damn the Israeli army and they have not! So, then it occurs that they must and do know, as must our public service broadcaster. One ends up with the conclusion that the British government are practiced at this, they or their forebears have done this before. But this time the crimes are being livestreamed. The conclusions are chilling!
Thanks beyond thanks to the brave souls who are helping to compile this bloody evidence.
Martin Reed, I’m interested that you say ‘not to be shared with family’. On the contrary, I’ve been considering sharing it with members of my extended family who continue to support Israel, in a (further) attempt to open their eyes. (But you might have meant sharing it with people close to you, in which case yes, no way.)
There is now so much devastating evidence of the full horror of the genocide that it is obvious that, as Martin Read surmises above, those in power know perfectly well what is happening, but feign ignorance. It is therefore of little value merely to send such evidence to our legislators.
It follows that a more powerful campaigning strategy is to establish ineradicable common knowledge amongst the UK population that (1) the legislators do indeed know, and that (2) we already know that they know.
Therefore I suggest a campaign of writing and widely circulating numbered open letters to MP’s at regular intervals including evidence of the above kind, entitled “Evidence for Posterity of Your Complicity in War Crimes and Genocide” which make clear that the purpose of the letters is to establish irrevocably, for their and our grandchildren, that they knew, and that we knew that they knew.
Sociopaths do not necessarily wish to be considered pariahs, if only for pragmatic reasons.
