Israeli War Crimes in Gaza – evidence in parliament

JVL Introduction

What are MPs for? Surely, to hold governments to account.

In January 2024 two Yorkshire MPs, Richard Burgon MP and Imran Hussain MP took their roles seriously by announcing they would host a range of legal experts and rights groups to address MPs on the war on Gaza at Parliamentary Evidence Panels.

Richard Burgon, MP for Leeds East, said:

“As MPs, we cannot stand by while international law is openly violated. We have a responsibility to do all we can to prevent war crimes and to hold those perpetrating such crimes to account.”

Imran Hussain, MP for Bradford East, said:

“If our Government continues to refuse to stand up for justice or for international law where those responsible for war crimes are held to account, and continues to refuse to press for the immediate ceasefire that we need to see, then these panels will do it for them, and we will make it clear that there is no escaping accountability for violating international law.”

Here is their report, including sections of the devastating evidence they were presented with.

All this was under the previous Troy government. We trust Labour will welcome this report with open arms and act appropriately.

  • The report will be linked to our directory at eaarth.
Many of the leading journalists we follow, some very important academics need to see this report. We will repost this transcript on our substack.
This is essential reading, many believe the current government is just team B to the prior team A (conservatives).
We applaud such genuine work that these representatives of parliament have undertaken.

  • The list of crimes and the viciousness is breathtaking. The fact that so far Netanyahu and his Gang have got away with Genocide, dropping over 75.000 tons of bombs and missiles on Gaza, murdering innocent civilians , over 14.000 of the children and that’s not counting those under millions of tons of rubble, I hate to think what the total deaths will be.
I would like to see Starmer being interviewed for his thoughts on this serious report and on what should happen next.
