“The level of violence Is unthinkable”
JVL Introduction
Annie Thibault, an administrative manager for MSF’s emergency medical programme in Gaza from February to March this year, is interviewed on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza by Tom Pollitt.
She makes a simple point, reminding us of what we know but can’t grasp, something we manage to push to one side a lot of the time: the level of violence in Gaza is unthinkable.
It’s worse than we see in the news; it is ongoing, it is relentless, the scale of the violations of the humanitarian space hard to believe.
An improvement in the flow of aid, reopening the borders, a “humanitarian pause ” – all are woefully inadequate.
Nothing short of a full and complete cease-fire will do.
