Shhhh – you cannot say it’s genocide at the Labour Party Conference
JVL Introduction
On the day before the Labour Party Conference and the first National demonstration for Gaza outside London, the Canary published this piece reminding us that Labour had banned the word genocide in relation to what Israel is doing to Gaza – assuming that they allow such a discussion to take place at all.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign was not allowed to use the words “genocide” or “apartheid” in their description of their fringe meeting in the official conference guide, which instead lists the fringe meeting simply as ‘Justice for Palestine’.
We would urge anyone who can get to Liverpool on Saturday for the march and for fringe meetings to do so.

Palestine meetings at Labour conference BANNED from using the word ‘genocide’ in publicity

“This is a moral test for Keir Starmer and the Labour leadership. They need to stand up for the implementation of international law and be bold in confronting those who undermine it, no matter who they are.”
Like the scorpion, the Starmer government can’t change it’s nature but will only continue to deepen its complicity in the Gaza genocide, and I doubt if anyone can change it’s genocidal nature, not even if we throw in a dozen suits and three pairs of self-supporting diamond encrusted gold underpants with platinum braces.
Fascism by any other name… Genocide is the hallmark of fascism.
The deeply inbuilt hypocrisy of Starmer and associates continues.
This has been coming ever since the catalogue of lies that were Starmer’s leadership election manifesto pledges and the ideological purge of members who represented the values of 100yrs of Democratic Socialism in the Party.
If you want a measure of how careerist murderously racist Starmer’s Labour’s position can be judged, simply invert the ethnic identities of those murdered in Gaza with those who’ve killed them, then ask if Starmer would similarly be prohibiting the word genocide?
Compare the Israel lobby ludicrously pretending that London had become an unsafe space for them – despite countless Jews on anti-Genocide protests – then ask by what criteria can the term ‘Apartheid Israel’ be banned.
What is it 5 or so UN Special Rapporteurs, Israel’s own NGOs, Nobel Prize winners like Desmond Tutu, plus various academic papers substantiating Israel’s existing ‘Apartheid’, and incredibly the term cannot be used around Labour conference?
We are in ‘Lord Haw, Haw land’ both around conference and in the UK corporate news media.
Moral test for Starmer? That is a laughable concept. The man has no values and no principles; he’s a mediocre human with a greed for power coupled with a paucity of vision which leaves him easily swayed by the vicious right wing forces inside Labour. If he thinks by crushing free speech he can control what people are thinking he is even more deluded than Rayner, saying that he will ‘regain his popularity’ – what popularity?
Long ago, ie before SirKS turned PM, my then Lab Pty comrade and I had a friendly disagreement. In my naivety I was still thinking of him as a person of substance who would do good. ‘Nonsense’, she said, “Starmer is a political novice.” She was so right and how deceived I’d been. He really is a political novice and heavens, how that’s showing right now! He didn’t rise through the ranks, the hard slog, he’s missed the grounding, he can mouth the words but the soul isn’t there. A hollow opportunist and a chancer — actually, a manifestation of that old archetype, the Trickster.
Telling anything approaching the full truth to the power of Israel and its “lobby” is evidently beyond my party’s leadership.
Talking of Fascism and moral bankruptcy, our now Brexiteer PM visiting Italy to stand shoulder to shoulder with Meloni is questionable from any perspective. Even if there were things to be learnt from the Italian “neo-fascists” by visiting Italy, might not dispatching some civil servant/junior minister with relevant experience and direct responsibility have been the thing to do for any “mainstream” British government, let alone a Labour one?
It’s Ethnic Cleansing by murdering as many Palestinians as they can.
Dropping over 85.000 tons of Missiles and Bombs on Gaza, murdering 45.000 Palestinian Men, Women and Children, with an estimate of around 200.000 under the rubble, something the BBC never emphasises. This isn’t counting those that are being killed in the West Bank.
There is only one response to this. CENSORSHIP. This word should have been in the party manifesto for a long time now.
