When integrity is missing, we can miss out saying genocide

JVL Introduction

Two lawyers, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary seem not to understand the law and continue to refuse to use the word “genocide” regarding hat is being perpetrated against the people of Gaza.. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese reminds us  that as stated in the International Court of Justice, there is a risk of a genocide, which risk alone obliges governments to stop doing anything that could be considered complicity with a (potential/feasible) genocide.  Hence arms sales, the surveillance and the continuation of trades relations are already against International law.

Of course, as outlined in this article, there are several occasions when Starmer has used the term and it is rather hard to see why he is not using it for what is happening in Gaza – and beyond; hard that is unless we understand that there is no integrity, a lack of shame and clear hypocrisy from the political leaders of the UK (and far too many other countries).

  • THE REPRESENTATIVE

He had no more presence than a biscuit
dunked into a cup of tea or coffee and yet
he became the leader of the Labour Party

    He seemed startled, surprised
whenever people spoke to him. Asked

questions. He had no favourite book
or film. No music. He had no favourite
    anything. But

    he knew it wasn’t genocide
