The “hostile environment” is a deliberate creation of the Tories who may claim ad nauseam to be focused on shutting down the people smugglers while failing to implement the obvious, tried and tested solutions. Rather than reinstate the safe, legal routes, this government is content to whip up division. The UK is not alone and 25,000 people have drowned in the Mediterranean since 2015. Kenan Malik calls for a humane – and, indeed, realistic, approach.

Use of language, association & adoption? Some words are ‘left wing’, others ‘right wing’? All asylum seekers are migrants, but not all migrants are asylum seekers. The Tory Party now claim that we need ‘economic migrants’ because we have a ‘labour shortage’ & what happens to wages when that happens?
The NHS has well over 100k vacancies, let’s go cherry picking.
