Britain threatens to expel Care workers’ children

Some children as young as five years old, who arrived in the UK legally, have received letters telling them they have to leave. This is the pernicious consequence of changing the rules such that care workers can no longer bring their family members here. As this Guardian article shows, this has happened to families who pay taxes, claim no benefits, contribute to the country and have even paid the government thousands of pounds for their visa applications.
On top of this there is a critical shortage of care workers but the government has ruled that, since July 2025 there has been a ban on overseas recruitment. This is happening under a Labour government which, kowtowing to the agenda set by Reform is prioritising that they “must restore order and control to our borders” above the need for care workers, many of whom will leave to be with their families.
These decisions will have tragic consequences, not least for children who have been here totally legally, attended school and made friends. Meanwhile the Home Office reminds us that “It is a privilege, not a right, to settle in the UK and it must be earned, rewarding contribution and those who play by the rules.” Well these people have played by the rules but those rules were later changed. No-one wins in this situation (other than Reform perhaps) and many will be damaged.

This is beyond disgusting. As someone who depends on carers to help
look after very disabled and sick husband I get to know many carers from abroad, and know how devastating this would be for those who were lucky enough to bring a child. Cruel and inhumane.
This is an absolute outrage. This totally useless Labour government who pretends to be focusing on ‘growth’, has not got a clue. We desperately need immigration especially by people who are serious about living here and fulfill the needs of the country. As someone who lives in Scotland I’m utterly disgusted with the SNP who are seemingly allowing this to happen in our country.
The UK is sick very very sick and there pushing for a war, the economy is sinking and the propaganda machine is telling more and more lies
its beyond all reason what earth are these so called Labour MPs gov for. Why did they get elected as Labour MPs they are a utter disgrace.
Sheer evil. Every time you think this government can’t sink any lower they turn to active cruelty. ICE eat your heart out.
Andy Burnham has said that he has listened to voters’ concerns about immigration.
He has not told us, however, what alternative arguments he has put to those people.
But, I think we know the answer to that particular question.
A few months ago, one comedian said that Starmer and Burnham are like ‘chalk and another piece of chalk’. A highly accurate statement.
