Independent MPs write to the Home Secretary about far right thuggery

JVL Introduction

5 Independent MPs have written to the Home Secretary expressing their concern that the Prime Minister is failing to understand the gravity of the situation we face with far right thuggery on the streets of our cities.

The anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim hatred driving this violence, they argue, is not appreciated by Starmer. Government references to “understandable fears” send mixed messages, pandering to the ugly racism we are witnessing.

The failure to consult with the largest Muslim organisation in the country, the Muslim Council of Britain, when mosques are being attacked is hard to comprehend.

They call for an urgent meeting with the Home Secretary to discuss what action is needed.

  • Thank you JVL you are a constant reassurance to us all on the left, informing us all, so we are aware as to what is going on, I feet desperation at what is happening on our streets and do not feel confident with the new Labour government so to read this letter from the independent MP’s gives me hope that someone is able to articulate what this is about, Islamophobia seems to be a word the media does not want to use, we have to face up to this racism.
