Build a popular anti-fascist movement

JVL Introduction

We’re witnessing a strange phenomenon – media and politicians who stoked racial division to divert popular discontent away from social and economic injustice are suddenly applauding anti-racist demonstrators as admirable upholders of British values; police who enact laws designed to repress dissent by environment protesters, pro-Palestine campaigners and others, are on the streets arresting far right thugs threatening mosques and immigration advice centres.

Don’t be fooled. As the Morning Star warned in the editorial we republish below, the Daily Mail has not had a Damascene conversion and become our friend.

What we’re seeing is “a concerted effort by the state, the police, the prosecution authorities, the monopoly media, the state broadcaster and its commercial rivals to ensure that this popular movement remains subordinated, as far as possible, to an agenda at the service of the Establishment.”

We mustn’t let this happen.
