Trade unions issue joint statement in support of refugees

JVL Introduction
Last week the Fire Brigades Union passed a motion in support of refugees.
It is gratifying to see the widespread endorsement of this statement by many other trade unions.
“As trade unionists, we know whose side we are on when we see far right mobs attacking refugees and politicians playing the mood music. We send our solidarity to Care4Calais and all groups fighting for refugee rights…”

Why hasn’t Unite signed? Does anyone know?
Why is Unite not on the list I’m a member of Unite and i fully support the refugees

It has to be a nightmare having to escape from where you’ve spent your life and seek somewhere safe. Here are my 2 answers to those that think it’s clever to say, Why are they travelling through several Countries or what’s wrong with staying in the first Country you pass through instead of the UK?? My answers are 1. “If you were fleeing your homeland to find safety and start a new life, would you feel safer, if you went to a Country that you could speak the language”? English is the most spoken language across much of Europe, Middle East and Africa, that’s why they are desperate to get to the UK. 2. “It’s mostly males that are fleeing” etc. “So you would send your Sister, Daughter or Wife to take the terrible risks travelling 1000s of miles in the hope of finding somewhere safe”??
Thinking of the Countries where the majority are fleeing, the majority are Countries that the US have been at war with or selling arms to Countries involved in wars, perhaps all our next campaigns should be to tell the US, to stop creating Coups or going to or getting involved in wars, so that your Arms Corporations can make $billions every day the wars last, just 2 examples selling Arms to Saudi Arabia for bombing Yemen, killing over 100.000 innocent Yemenis and going to war with Iraq based on a lie, murdering a million innocent Iraqis.
