This heartbreaking and anger invoking eye witness account of conditions for asylum seekers on the french side of the Channel is a must read, a stark criticism of the racist rhetoric of the Tories and their commitment to dehumanise and demonise desperate people doing what any of us would do in the same circumstances. It makes similar points to Jeremy Corbyn who wrote this article following a visit he made to the refugee “camps” in January 2023.

My local Sainsburys had a poster asking “Can you house a family of Ukrainian refugees escaping war ?”
I’ll put one next to it asking “Can you house a family of Sudanese refugees escaping war ?”
