Andrew Feinstein is not the only one fearful of a Starmer led government
JVL Introduction
Perspectives on the General Election (17)
Andrew Feinstein is interviewed by Rivkah Brown and comes over as a real mensch, passionate about democracy, passionate about justice. He shares the fear of what a Labour government led by Keir Starmer (and with Cabinet members equally committed to neo liberal economic policies we might add). Here he explains why he is standing.
We are as sick of this pernicious and incompetent government as the majority of people in the UK and Labour will win the election, but we note that there is greater disillusion and disaffection with both the major Parties and with politicians than ever before. The Labour victory will be about kicking out the Tories and electing “the lesser evil”. And after the election…..well we need more voices like Andrew Feinstein’s and more involvement by more people in articulating needs and ideas so that we work to build a world that works for everyone – and not just those who are rich and currently wield the power.

Andrew Feinstein Is the Left’s Anti-Keir Starmer
‘I am terrified by what a Labour government will do.’

I really dig Andrew Feinstein. He puts it in a nutshell when he says: “He also understands that no identity categories are fixed, and that there is no such thing as an eternal victim”. He goes on to say: “What happens if a Labour government under Keir Starmer decides to treat all the citizens of this country the way they’ve treated Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott, Faiza Shaheen and others?” The things he is saying are not just “socialist”, but about basic honesty and human decency. That’s the side he needs to emphasise to win votes in Holborn and St Pancras.
The key to “the morning after” is that all those independents and progressive candidates, remain under the “Left Umbrella”. Starmers “change” agenda pretence will soon show cracks in its edifice, once the honeymoon is over. Those who push the “we have to vote Labour, to get the Tories out”, and those who push the “stay in and fight” narratives are doomed to be disappointed. They will become the victims of the Labour right attack on ordinary people and its essential services. Left forces need to keep together, not retreat to our bunkers, hoping for a “road to Damascus” moment. Starmer is going to be under immense pressure from the establishment, the deep state and its apparatchiks, to further its neoliberal militaristic agenda. The authoritarianism of the Party is in place to ride roughshod over any dissent and effectively disable the unions and any resistance to its ideological direction of travel. We not only have to unite to be strong, but in order to effectively attack the weaknesses and dissent in Starmer’s armoury. We have enough experience of fighting the fake “anti-semitism” scam and expulsions of members on spurious grounds and complete lies. That gives us strength to enhance our ability to challenge the Labour Party and organise without Parliament and the establishments’ collaboration. Andrew Feinstein, Tony Greenstein and others are not likely to back down because of Starmer. Unity will be vital “the morning after”.
A brilliant read, I have a better understanding of who Andrew is and what was behind his political views.
Rivkah Brown doesn’t think he has any chance of beating Starmer, that’s a shame, I pray that a miracle happens and he wins or at the very least, runs him close.
Ed Miliband gave Starmer the ‘safe seat’ of Holborn and St Pancras, that means it has a a large Socialist population, I’m hoping the majority have seen through Starmer and what he truly stands for and it isn’t Socialism. If Andrew runs him close, it should encourage the true Socialist LP MPs to stand up to him, challenge his dictatorial leadership. Start by reminding him that, it isn’t his Party, it’s the Members Party. Also, remind him that he became leader with his ten Pledges and has dropped every one of them.

The problem is far bigger than Keir Starmer.
My husband sent off my postal vote several days ago and it wasn’t for Labour! We have been moved to a different parliamentary constituency without having moved and I wish we had more proportional representation.
I found the interview rather patronising, so I looked up Rikvah Brown’s previous career as a writer.. Which is very mixed.
