The impact of Gaza on Arab voters in the UK

For the first time Arab UK voters have been polled.  They may not make up a significant part of the electorate but their views obviously matter and this poll highlights how Labour’s stand on the appalling actions by Israel since October 7th is a deciding factor for many.  It is, unfortunately, just one of the many worryingly divisive positions it has taken, rather than bringing the interests of the working class together, it seems instead to be keen on reassuring the financial markets that Labour will be safe for them.  Perhaps this is realpolitick and we are naive if we still (want to) believe that politics is about public service and to keep striving towards a society that works for everyone.

On Gaza, Labour has now, belatedly, called for a ceasefire but the Leader’s initial statements after the Hamas attacks as well as his earlier statement that “I support Zionism without qualification.”  Gaza is one of the key issues of the campaign and not only for Arab peoples in the UK.
