While we have focused mainly on Israel’s role in the arms trade, this important book “Monstrous Anger” is far more wide ranging. Through a collection of essays, we learn that the US is responsible for half of global spending on arms; that small arms are having a terrible impact in the Global South. While we could get overwhelmed by the scale and power of the industry and those behind it, this book also highlights how people are fighting back, not only but especially such actions as dockworkers blocking arms shipments for Israel’s genocidal acts in Gaza.
There is, of course, another way; unions are key and need to campaign for alternative jobs for their members that meet people’s needs rather than perpetuate war. We are grateful to Counterfire for this review.

And it gets results for them such as having the investigation into allegations of corruption dropped by Tony Blair in 2007.
