2024 – a record year for the Israeli Arms Trade

JVL Introduction

Israel is happily marketing its “battle tested” weaponry around the world and, with notable exceptions, the world seems happy to buy them, leading to a 13% increase in defence exports during 2024 while the genocide continued with intensity in Gaza.  Specialists believe that those buying weapons – and surveillance machinery -during a “plausible” genocide know that buying weapons in such circumstances is illegal as they are bound under international law to prevent genocide.  And yet demand from Europe has accelerated with “exports increasing to 54 percent of the total from 36 percent in 2023.”

To say this was depressing is an understatment but these governments must be called out on this; the overwhelming majority of their citizens do not support this.
