Israel’s Palestinian hostages – suffering, death and no due process

We rightly hear about Israeli hostages being held by Hamas but rarely about the thousands of Palestinians being held by Israel. A large percentage of whom are held without charge for long periods under “Administrative Detention”. The western media refers to them (if at all) as “prisoners”, which falsely implies that they have been found guilty following due process and; but even where there is a proper process, the likelihood of an accused Palestinian – adult or child – being found innocent in an Israeli military court is tiny.
The writer asks: “Did the people who were shocked by the hostages’ treatment hear about the condition of Palestinian prisoners? Have they heard about prisoners whose hands and feet were amputated because of gangrene caused by handcuffs? Have they heard in mainstream Israeli media about the Israeli Guantanamo, Sde Teiman, which serves as a detention facility for Gazans and for people suspected of belonging to Hamas? Do they know that over the last six months, the number of prisoners who have died in Israeli torture camps is four times greater than the number of prisoners who died in Guantanamo over 20 years? At least 27 have died in Israel, and likely more.” (my emph)
The double standards are stark and needs to stop.

Media coverage is actually worse than portrayed in the intro. I heard someone from Times of Israel repeatedly referring to Israel swapping hostages for Palestinian “murderers”, without any challenge from the Radio 4 presenter.
I am disgusted with the media here the BBC & the US, all are a waste of space, hypocrites & Genocide enablers!
These two countries are worse than Israel because THEY SUPPLY THE WEAPONS & SUPPORT with those greasy, sweaty handshakes of white supremacy & Zionist Biden dementia!
They really know how to teach hate.
This is a situation which only a sick and deranged society can inflict on other human beings, the ones whose land is being occupied, stolen and settled by supremacist western settler colonials with the total complicity of the imperialist powers in the US and Europe. All this after “Never Again for anyone” and by the ‘state’ that uses the Holocaust and antisemitism as a tool to silence critics of this genocidal state. The Holocaust Memorial Centre proposed for Milbank should be scrapped. Shame on the UK government of all persuasions. Shame on the media that do not even report the Gaza genocide and lack of programmes investigating what really happened on 7 October, and who repeat all the lies about Hamas perpetrated by Israel. This sickness of the Western media is the reason that such atrocities are allowed to go on, and more and more people die, are slaughtered or imprisoned. The press should be taken to court for reporting fake news and repeating falsehoods.
Detail like this is rarely raised on most mainstream media channels,it is shameful.I end up shouting at the TV most of the time in frustration.It is so wrong not to give the whole picture of what has been and is actually happening in a fair and balanced way.
