No more human rights in Israel’s “democracy”

Proposals targeting NGOs that receive funding from other countries were passed with few opposing this in the Knesset on February 23rd. Those targeted are organisations “protecting disenfranchised populations, minorities (mainly Arabs), women, workers, West Bank residents, and more.” It seems incredible that the Bill would mean a tax rate of 80% compared to the current 0%. The potential consequences are dire and are, perhaps, also the final proof, were that still needed, that Israel’s claims to the a democracy are without foundation. As for its link with Jewish values…
Below the article we republish from Ha’aretz is the letter sent to supporters of B’Tselem one of the most respected Israeli Human Rights organisations. In addition to commenting on this bill, they also remind us that another Bill passed in the Knesset will outlaw all cooperation (or presumably what is considered cooperation) with the International Criminal Court that has arrest warrants out for Netanyahu and Gantz. B’Tselem’s coincludes by committing to continue doing its work and notes:
“Israel continues to perpetrate crimes, flouting every law, norm and moral principle. Now, it is seeking to hide its crimes and silence those who document and report them. ”
