Israeli (and western) media is complicit in this genocide

Gideon Levy’s furious article condemns the Israeli media and rightly so; however the mainstream media in the west has been horrendously complicit too, as, for example,  Middle East Eye showed in its recent article.   There seems to have been a shift since the resumption of Israel’s pulverisation of Gaza in that, for example, even the BBC has referred to Israel breaking the ceasefire but so much damage has been done over the past 18 months of biased reporting that this shift will not be enough, on its own, to absolve the western media from being considered culpable.  As well as media bias, we need to remember that Israel continues to refuse to allow journalists into the Gaza Strip  and that Israel has killed more journalists in the past 18 months than were killed during World War Two and the Vietnam War added together.

But Gideon Levy’s key point is that there is no excuse not to know; he notes that ” Many Israelis believe Gaza deserves all of this, that no one there is truly innocent, that Gazans are to blame for their own fate. But the privilege of looking away − and especially of refusing to show − can no longer be tolerated. You killed, you destroyed, you expelled, you razed − at the very least, show it. Where does this audacity to conceal come from? This brazen refusal to even look?”
