Apparently those killed were all “operatives”….
JVL Introduction
The dehumanisation of Palestinian people has long reached unbearable levels. The killing has started again, according to some in the Israeli media, all those killed in the early hours of Tuesday morning (March 18th) were operatives. In this Opinion piece, there are questions even for the Israelis who oppose the war and who protest for democratic rights. Is the main concern the Israeli hostages or the growing authoritarianism of the Netanyahu government rather than the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinians for whom that feint hope has been shattered?
The Israeli Ambassador to the UK claims concern for the poor Palestinian children but even this oh so gentle interviewer on Sky News who tries so desperately to agree with Hotoveley has to note that Hamas kept to the Ceasefire agreement. Hotoveley seems to think Trump’s utterances demanding Hamas release all the Israeli hostages is more important than the actual agreement made between Hamas and Israel. Do watch the interview if you can bear to.
People in Israel are rightly calling out their own media, but we must also remember the culpability of the western media which is only just, with this break of the ceasefire, beginning to really raise the questions that need to be asked.

Even Anti-war Israelis Are Scared to Say Gazans Are Human Beings

I wish to postulate that those so-called “Liberal” Zionist “Jews” who are protesting daily on the streets in Tel Aviv, are not just doing so for the release of their hostages, but protesting that their cosy neo-European lifestyle and world view has been shattewred. Never will the Zionist settler population be able to return to their comfortable, privileged, pre-October 7th lives. The Fascist Zionist enemy, and its cornered rabbid dog – Netanyahu, are sacrificing Palestrinians, not just in Gazza, but also in the West Bank – to hang on to power. There is no praise to be given to the awakening of Western Media or politicians, and their tepid recognition of genocide. Even Ha`rettz, for all its exposure of the rape, murder, torture and occupation of the Palestinians, still hangs its coat on the peg of “Israeli Democracy”. Let us not be fooled.
Not a squeak of protest about the massacre of Gazan children from Starmer. Even Lammy felt obliged to utter a few words of disma ybut was put back in his cage.
Yes, the most telling factor for us in the UK is the extraordinary absence of condemnation of Israel’s behaviour by our own Prime Minister and his Cabinet. Occasional soft regrets by Lammy seems , frankly, pathetic. Exactly at what point did all semblance of political morality leave the shores of the UK? I have come to the conclusion, via several issues, that there is something dark at the deep centre of the present Labour Party and thus our Government. There is a frightening lack of focus on the ‘micro- dimension’ of political will. i.e at the immediate level of human experience and suffering. All very shameful.
