It seems Netanyahu had no choice; the “smaller” ceasefire violations including killings and the blocking of aid had not led to retaliation from Hamas and, indeed, they had offered to release some hostages if there was a commitment to return to negotiating Phase 2. Therefore, to save his own skin from the Courts and his government from defeat, to get Smotrich to stay and Ben Gvir to return, the poor man was required to authorise a major attack on the Gaza Strip.
Of course, in doing so, he broke the Ceasefire agreement, shattered the hopes for people in Gaza that they would be able to focus on rebuilding and satisfied the far right in Israel as well as the hardliners in the US. The new Minister of Defence has now promised to unleash hell on the people of Gaza, clearly furthering the dehumanisation of Palestinians. Meanwhile the Israeli Ambassador to the UK dares to claim that Hamas broke the ceasefire!
In addition, there seems to be another US agenda that also “required” Natanyahu to recommence the massive bombing campaign.

Why Netanyahu chose to blow up the ceasefire and return to war
Israel was backed into a corner on the eve of its return to war because Hamas was forcing Netanyahu to honor the ceasefire deal he had signed. Confronted with his own internal political challenges, Netanyahu’s only choice was to blow up the deal.

It all comes down to a very simple proposition: that Israel is not defending itself from Palestine, but is instead making war on the Palestinians people who are to all inents and purposes unable to defend themselves from Israel. This is not new; it is what we have known about Israel for years. But Israel, a has always been able to put a veneer on it because of Hamas’s attempts to respind to Israeli violence. But now that veneer has been stripped away, and nobody who looks at what is happening honestly would ever think of Israel as anything but a genocidal war-machine. Sadly, those who have the power to stop Israel are not honest. Their greed and self-interest are far more important than the lives of ordinary people as those lives are shattered by Israeli bombs and Israeli bullets.
The entire horror cabinet that rules by murder, genocide , cruelty and lying as well as being totally detestable, needs to be dismanteled, arrested and taken to court in The Hague to face the music for breaking international laws and committing war crimes. Enough is enough!
It is and always has been indefensible for the U.K. to be sending armaments or any war tools to Israel and using U.K. bases in Cyprus for surveillance over the Gaza Strip and presumably the West Bank. We, citizens of the U.K. will continue to be complicit in the most brutal, evil, onslaught of bombings of the completely defenceless Gazaans- men, woman and children- until our leader, Starmer, is removed ASAP, as his inhumanity renders him completely unmoved by their fate. (Why must the partition of Cyprus still persist, and ‘our’ bases remain on that beleaguered island?)
How dare the people who criticise Putin stay silent over the massacre of children?
Israel is finished They never recover from this. Eventually god Knows when Israel and all those who have supported them including UK USA will have to face Justice for what they have supported and done. Than and only then will world return to sanity.
