In the early hours, as people in Gaza were sleeping, mostly in tents, Israeli airstrikes resumed on the Strip. It is hard to imagine the horror, the terror and the psychological impact of the pulverisation restarting. Far too many western media outlets have reported this without highlighting that Israel has – once again – broken the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Ha’aretz notes several examples of Israel breaking the terms of the ceasefire agreement, unlike the maintream media which seems to report on what is happening and noting that Israel says it is because Hamas did not agree to the new terms and have not released the remaining Israeli hostages.
The article also notes that “White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News that the Trump administration was consulted by the Israelis prior to the Israeli offensive.” and that the “Hostages and Missing Families Forum said, “Our greatest fear has come true – the Israeli government has chosen to abandon the hostages.” It added that the claim that renewing the fighting is aimed at securing the hostages’ return is “a complete deception – military pressure endangers both the hostages and the soldiers.”
Across the country – and across the world, there are emergency rallies being held. We urge everyone to get to one nearest to them. The genocide must end.

Hamas’s one or two relatively minor violations don’t even begin to compare with Israel’s several hundred violations of the cease-fire agreement, including killing and maiming and otherwise seriously injuring hundreds of men, women, children and toddlers and babies, and that’s before the mass murder of hundreds of civilians in the early hours of yesterday morning.
I just checked the latest, and in an Al Jazeera article posted today it says that ‘At least 436 Palestinians, including 183 children, have been killed since Israel resumed the bombardment of Gaza’. And there are no doubt dozens more dead under the rubble. And the headline to a Reuters article posted yesterday evening says ‘Israel warns more to come as airstrikes kill over 400 in Gaza after two months of truce’. Here are a couple of clips from it:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered strikes because Hamas had rejected proposals to secure a ceasefire extension.
Netanyahu called on Gazans to get out of harm’s way and move to safer areas, blaming every civilian casualty on Hamas.
“From now on, Israel will act against Hamas with increasing force. And from now on, negotiations will only take place under fire,” he said…
“Hamas has already felt the blow of our arm in the last 24 hours. And I want to assure you: This is just the beginning.”…
Egypt and Qatar, mediators in the ceasefire deal along with the U.S., condemned the Israeli assault, while the European Union said in a statement it deplored the breakdown of the ceasefire.
…Dorothy Shea, acting U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said the blame for the resumption of Gaza hostilities “lies solely with Hamas” and expressed support for Israel in its next steps.
“Hamas could have released hostages to extend the ceasefire but instead chose refusal and war,” White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz accused the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday of derailing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, not Hamas.
“Israel – not Hamas – is the one preventing the deal’s implementation and the hostages’ return,” Haaretz said in an editorial.
The government claimed that the assault was renewed due to Hamas’ “repeated” rejection of all proposals to extend the ceasefire and release Israeli captives.
“But it must be said, loudly and clearly, that this is a lie. It was Israel, not Hamas, that violated the agreement,” Haaretz commented.
