Written before the latest wave of deadly Israeli bombings, this piece paints an utterly chilling picture of the cruel legacy of what had gone before.

Among multiple health crises plaguing Gaza’s civilian population, “One of the worst among them is the shocking number of amputees that Israel’s indiscriminate use of explosive weapons for 15 months has left behind.”

The writer is Hadeel Awad, a nurse based in Gaza. She used to work at Al Shifa hospital until it was raided by the Israeli army in November 2023.
