When is a broken ceasefire still a ceasefire?

JVL Introduction

It seems that a ceasefire remains a ceasefire even when Israel drops bombs to “attack Hamas” but it is violated when Hamas killed an Israeli soldier. This is the Alice in Wonderland world, topsy turvy, Kafkaeqsque nightmare that Palestinians are living in.

The media also seems to have forgotten that Israel broke the January 2025 ceasefire – and massively – in March, after the Palestinians had experienced 2 months without bombardment and many had returned to their ruined homes and started to remake them – if there was enough structure left after the bombardments. Peace feels a long way off but even respite is uncertain. Since then Gaza City has been reduced to rubble and many more Palestinians had been killed and since the ceasefire, Israel has violated the ceasefire on at least 125 occasions.

Why did Israel launch air strikes on Gaza, then ‘resume’ truce?

Trump has backed Israel through numerous violations of the ceasefire, which has yet to enter its crucial second phase.

  • We all know what happens when self-serving thugs can do whatever they wish to whomsoever they wish, while knowing there are unlikely to be any nasty consequences for them. Violent husbands, the Mafia and the SS have all shown us how horrendous viciousness, power and impunity in combination are for their victims … and for society at large.

Western government leaders are still horribly slow to do their duty and STOP Israel continuing with its genocide. There’s progress but it’s at snails pace. Israel’s misdeeds have already killed an estimated 276,000 Gazan Palestinians.

The only “lever” I can see to stop Israel is the one lawyers are trying in courts across the world to prosecute all those alleged to have carried out or facilitated war crimes in Gaza and against the Freedom Flotillas.

The IDS, IPS (Israel Prison Service) and other Israeli institutions now fear the potential lifelong consequences to their workforce and themselves of their misdeeds. They realise the “Trump truce” won’t save them (as they’d hoped) from these consequences. They also know some information about IDS war crimes has been leaked by a “whistle-blowing) senior IDS law officer.

It’ll take very few prosecutions anywhere in the world to turn the significant numbers of IDS personnel already refusing to serve into a mass refusal to fight that will break its army. Israel will HAVE TO stop breaking the truce and start negotiating in good faith directly with the Palestinians (Hamas included). I so hope that day comes SOON!

  • “Israel” are still receiving military hardware and logistics from “The West”, with which to murder Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, etc, etc. They were never intending to honour a “ceasefire”. They never have. They are liars. They have a captive audience in Gaza whom they are still murdering at will, with occasional “pauses”. I suggest they are attempting to regroup, with their diminishing supply of armaments and a shortage of “reserves” prepared to go to war. Israel is preparing for imminent war with Iran, who are likely to inflict the biggest defeat of the Zionist entity in its history. Economically, socially, politically and militarily it is collapsing. Meanwhile, the resistance in the strip, particularly Rafah and the North of Gaza, is ready to continue to challenge the occupation. Why have “Israel” decided to redefine “truth” using propaganda on social media? Because it’s a dying beast. Hopefully, its total collapse and implosion will come sooner, rather than later.

  • It was NOT a war. It has never been a war. It is the ongoing violent tactics to annihilate and displace the Palestinian people and has started decades before the forced birth of Israel. There is armed resistance by a few, but that still doesn’t make it a war.
It definitely is not a ceasefire. There will never be a ceasefire that Israel will agree to and actually respect. Not until they established Greater Israel.
With the goodwill of most of the governments around the globe and we will all be happy because there will be peace.
