At last, a serious global Jewish call for sanctions on Israel

Not before time, a significant body of world Jewish opinion has come out in support of sanctions against Israel.
As the Guardian report below explains, an open letter signed by an impressive array of eminent Jews including some Israelis, has been published on the eve of a meeting of EU leaders who seem to be backing away from imposing sanctions.
The letter, (see full text below the Guardian article), is open for signature by Jews anywhere in the world. It says the international pressure that helped secure the current fragile ceasefire has to be sustained to prevent a return to “a political reality of indifference to occupation and permanent conflict”.
It rejects “false accusations of antisemitism that abusively deploy our collective history to tarnish those with whom we stand together in the pursuit of peace and justice” and pledges: “We shall not rest until this ceasefire carries forward into an end of occupation and apartheid.”
Governments of European nations meeting tomorrow in Brussels need to take heed.

I hope the European leaders will take thorough notice of this marvel of a document and act upon it. In fact, how could they not do so? I hope they will reconsider their ‘definition’ of what antisemitism is and step away from their complicity towards action dictated by common decency, lots of international laws and the will of the millions that took to the streets.
