Israel: the time to act is now
JVL Introduction
In a moving, passionate, personal statement, Israeli human-rights activist Lee Caspi deplores the increasingly visible symptoms of Israel’s crisis – police brutality, gender segregation, corruption, even murder – which have come to public attention under the current extreme right-wing government.
It is, she says, a frightening escalation. But it is not new. She cites case after case of similar events and outrages in recent years, none of which had attracted much public attention and condemnation.
What has changed?, she asks. Hopefully “us” – the Israeli mainstream, “shaken to our core by what these crimes mean for the future of our home. And for its present.”
“We must accept reality for what it is and act determinedly to end the occupation and apartheid, establish a proper asylum system, and build a new regime where everyone lives in security, equality, and with full rights.”

Very powerful article. Thank you.
Even though I have read and seen many articles including videos on the treatment of the Palestinians, reading this article raised my anger to new heights, followed by despair and basic helplessness. I’ve called out the lack of any coverage by the “Impartial” BBC, many times on Social Media, I will be doing so again on Twitter and Facebook when I share this article. Please look out for them and retweet and share, we just might shame the BBC into showing videos and reporting of these crimes on their 6pm and 10pm News programmes.
