The noose is tightening in Israel, with new legislation inviting people to snoop and inform.
Avi Maoz, LGBT-hunter, has returned to the government where he will head an authority that supervises school curricula, enabling parents to threaten teachers and principals.
And Limor Son Har-Melech of Otzma Yehudit is beavering away at a law to prevent Palestinian flags being raises on campuses, that will turn universities into surveillance agents encouraging students to turn their fellow students in.
All redolent of a society in which McCarthyism isn’t regarded “as a warning signal, but a plan of action”.

Do we not have parallels in GB with regard to schools in which ‘progressive’ teachers teach values and ideologies to young children which are in conflict with the ‘teaching’ of the religion of their parents? Does ‘in loco parentis’ then entitle the teacher to assume the role and authority of the parent?
Getting people to police themselves is always the preferred option as it is much cheaper than maintaining the apparatus of a police state. Not that the latter can ever be dismissed as an option to be used when circumstances dictate.
