Haggai Matar, writing in +972 Magazine, provides a very useful analysis of developments since Netanyahu’s latest government was formed.

He warns of imminent danger, for while the “pro-democracy” protest movement has forced the government to put its judicial reforms on hold, it has ploughed ahead in other fields.

The budget has been successfully passed, increasing payments to both the settler movement and the Haredi parties, thus buying their support for the next two years.

The latest phase deepening the occupation, of which the pogrom in Huwara in February was a prelude, is no longer more of the same, argues Matar, but a concerted effort to implement the right-wing, messianic, anti-Palestinian, ethno-nationalist dream.
