Strangulation of the West Bank continues

JVL Introduction

Shatha Hanaysha a Palestinian journalist based in Jenin in the occupied West Bank reports on the latest Israeli acti of repression: demolitions within Palestinian refugee camps.

“The Israeli strategy for “re-engineer” the camps is part of Israel’s broader project to alter the social, demographic, and geographic characteristics of the West Bank, especially communities that have served as incubators for resistance.”

Its aim: the slow strangulation of any geographical concentrations of Palestinians linked to their history of displacement and expulsion, undermining symbolically and physically the refugee camps as “a living embodiment of the right of return and the Palestinian refugee issue”.

The outlawing of Unwra activity is part and parcel of the same ethnically destructive project
