Israel threatens to seize Solomon’s Pools from Palestinians

Solomon’s Pools provides much needed recreation and respite for Palestinians from the restrictions they face through the brutal occupation. Of course, even this is unacceptable to Israel.

It is important to note that the ancient pools are in Area A under the Oslo agreements and should be under full Palestinian Authority control and, in the past, Israel has forbidden its own citizens from entering Area A (which compromises a mere 18% of the West Bank*)

The likely take over of these Pools is further indication of the Israeli leadership’s commitment to take over the whole of Palestine. There are increasing incursions in Areas A and B, increasing attacks by settlers, including burning Palestinians’ buildings and setting up caravans.

The world should be shocked and into action, sanctioning Israel until it complies with International law.  The people of the world are overwhelmingly angry and shocked as well as determined to continue to campaign for justice.  The governments of the world need to act.

(* Area B comprises 21% of the West Bank and is technically under full PA control for civil matters and Israeli control for security. Area C encompasses 61% of the West Bank, under full Israeli control. Until recently this was the only area with settlements and settlement outposts)
