Telling the truth about the West Bank: action is needed
JVL Introduction
Issa Amro is a well known Human Rights Defender from Hebron, which shows the horrors of Israel’s brutal occupation at every step. Amro is the founder of Youth against settlements committed to non violent resistance. Together with Jeff Halper of ICAHD*, he has been noninated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Being committed to non violence is no protection from attack or arrest. He was recently featured in the Louis Theroux documentary on Settlers and was then attacked by settlers shortly after broadcast
Our eyes are mainly, understandably, focused on the genocide taking place before our eyes in Gaza. For decades settlements and settlement expansion have created major problems for Palestinians simply trying to, eg get to school, to work, to the market and to visit friends.
Just last week. as Amro note, the Israeli government with settlers at its core, approved even more settlements. Of course, all of which are illegal under international law, not just the few individual ‘extremists’ that the UK government have sanctioned.
In this article, Amro explains the reality on the ground and is clear that action is needed and needed now so that Palestinians and Palestine are not “erased across the West Bank as well as in Gaza.”
