UK Lawyers for Israel rebuffed

In an important case Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, rector of the University of Glasgow has been cleared of misconduct by a medical watchdog over alleged antisemitism and support for Hamas.
It may have been the General Medical Council which instigated the hearing but it was UK Lawyers for Israel who incited for it in the first place.
All praise for the panel of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service who heard the charges in a 3-day hearing. Unswayed by the general hysteria which has surrounded the case the panel dismissed them.
Under attack was an article written by Abu-Sittah for a Lebanese newspaper.
Ian Comfort, the chair of the panel, said the tribunal did not “cherrypick” quotes but considered the article in its entirety and could not identify anything that was antisemitic or supportive of terrorism or violence.
Of a tweet also weaponised against Abu-Sittah the tribunal was very clear: the “ordinary reader” would see the tweet as a celebration of an anniversary and not to be “material or moral aid” to terrorism.
This is a significant rebuff to UKLFI who have been extremely active in pursing lawfare against supporters of Palestine.
As Abu-Sittah pointed out afer the verdict:
“This complaint forms part of a broader lawfare strategy which aims to instrumentalise the regulatory processes to intimidate, silence, and exhaust those who speak out against injustice in Palestine.”

As usual UK Lawyers for Israel acts as aspokesman for the Israeli Government and ignores the crimes committed by Israel. Anybody who criticises the Israeli government is fair game for UKLI. The lawyers working for UKLI need to read the various Geneva protocols that Israeli has regularly broken. Do they know how many doctor and paramedics the Isralis have killed in the past two years, let alone, journalist and children? They are committing a war against a people – this is not Judaism.
Thank goodness for the common sense of the Tribunal. Far too many people have been bulldozed into the antisemitic waste heap of professional ruin by the vindictive vengfulnss of the Israel lobby. There are far too few Doctors who work with severe body trauma. It seems that they would rather it was none at all. 🙂
