Of course we are delighted that the killings of Palestinians have stopped (at least in principle – Israel killed 35 Gazans in the first 24 hours of the ceasefire) and that (some of) the hostages are being released. By the time you read this all the Israeli hostages, alive and dead, should have been returned to Israel.
If only we could say the same about the over ten thousand Palestinians held in Israeli goals, around two thousand of whom are from Gaza. Many of these are held in adminsitrative detention i.e without charge or trial.
We celebrate what we can but look to the future with trepidation.
