We oppose genocide; our governments oppose us

JVL Introduction

Throughout the world people are marching in their tens and hundreds of thousands.  These are the humanitarians of the world opposed to genocide and willing to march and strike to try to get the pulverisation of Gaza to stop and for there to be peace with justice for the Palestinian people.  As we have posted extensively, the reaction of far too many States, especially in the “democratic” West has often been repressive and even brutal. Here is more about what is happening in many countries, including the UK.  Spain is a possible beacon of light in the midst of extensive attempts to stop the marches and other actions in support of people who are being denied that most basic of human rights, the right to life.

Yesterday (October 11th, marking two years of genocide) at least 500,000 people marched to show ongoing solidarity with the people of Palestine and, however, the legacy media like to frame it, for peace and equality for all people living “between the river and the sea”, a phrase that the UK government would like to ban.

When papers like the Daily Telegraph refer to those counter protesting in support of Israel as pro-Jewish protesters away from Palestine march  we know what lies ahead because it is the same old story.  We are  more than ready for it but tired of having to always separate out antiziomism and criticism of Israel from LLantisemitism.
