NEC elections – left needs steadfastness, Palestinian style

Democracy in the LP with Starmer at its head is impossible. It was bad enough under Corbyn where the witch hunt started.
Fervently hoping for your success. It takes so much courage, resilience and stamina to battle high odds and keep on battling them until the “good” wins.
Thanks also for both the Tony Benn quotes, particularly the second on having to fight the same battle “over and over again. So toughen up, bloody toughen up.”
You quoting Tony Benn saying that the same battle has to be fought “over and over again” reminded me of William Morris writing in A Dream of John Ball that:
“I pondered all these things, and how men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name…”
As you know full well Jack, Jeremy was/is first and foremost a democrat, so why do you attempt to associate him with Starmer, who is of course the polar opposite. And yes, the A/S witch-hunt DID begin shortly after Jeremy was elected leader, and built to a crescendo in which Jeremy himself was labelled an antisemite. But the way YOU phrase what you said sounds as if you’re saying that Jeremy started the A/S witch-hunt against left-wing members. But then you’re ALWAYS discrediting Jeremy and putting him down every-which-way you can think of, albeit MAINLY on Skwawkbox, but ALSO on here, and in my estimation, you’ve done so in around a third of the comments you’ve posted on here.
Yeah, well if you did so TOO often, people might catch on, eh!
I wish you success in this and greatly admire you for your steadfastness.
To be fair to Jack, Allan, Corbyn allowed the witch hunt to proceed and threw comrades under the bus. Maybe he felt he had no choice but that doesn’t excuse him now of not even saying sorry.
[JVL web says: this disagreement between Allan and Dave has been rehearsed before in the comments columns on this website. We see no point in repeating it. After the reply below this comments thread is closed to further Dave-Allan exchanges]
But Dave, Jeremy didn’t throw ANYBODY under the bus, so he has nothing whatsoever to apologise for. And he DIDN’T ‘allow’ it to proceed, as it was out of his hands. If someone or other makes a complaint – ie an allegation of A/S – then the case HAS to be investigated by the NEC, even the vexatious claims, and there were no doubt many of THOSE, including Ken Livingstone, and more than a few other high profile cases. I’ve posted the following article on here before – which I can only assume you didn’t see – which exemplifies what Jeremy and his allies in the Party were up against – ie a whole bunch of saboteurs concocting and creating a false reality, and then ‘building’ it to a crescendo. And THIS was at the point where the saboteurs REALLY kicked off their A/S black op smear campaign. The following is from the Mail, but as I’m sure you know, the WHOLE of the MSM – along with the Jewish newspapers – were complicit in, and conspired in the A/S smear campaign:
‘Labour in crisis over ‘anti-semitic’ scandal: MPs demand Corbyn gets his ‘head out of the sand’ after Red Ken is SUSPENDED for claiming Hitler backed moving the Jews to Israel…..’
Jeremy Corbyn tonight denied Labour was facing an anti-Semitism crisis despite being forced to suspend his old friend Ken Livingstone for claiming Hitler was a ‘Zionist’.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3563223/Ken-Livingstone-claims-Hitler-supported-Zionism-supported-moving-Jews-Israel-went-mad-ended-killing-six-million-Jews.html
The big giveaway of course is that no-one ever reported Ken et al to the police for A/S! Which says it ALL!!
Jeremy started his leadership dragging an
incompetent set of officers fronted by secretary
Iain McNicol and in which complaints were handled
extremely slowly .. and sometimes ignored. This
had to be tackled particularly with respect to
anti-semitism so Jeremy appointed Shami
Chakrabarti to report. The result was heavily criticised
by some – but nevertheless her recommendations
were adopted by the EHRC in their report along with
the IHRA definition – without the examples I think.
After his election in 2015, Corbyn commenced by
approaching Labour Friends of Israel and from what
followed he was seemingly unaware that their views
were not unique and authoritative. The Jewish people
he had previously mixed with would differ from those of
LFI and he was evidently confused.
I must say it confused me too at first and
it was a while before I sussed that – like Christians
– Jewish people have many points of view. This
fact is of course never discussed in the MSM*** and I
had to work it out for myself .. If I – as a Roman Catholic
and therefore a person in a “minority” religion in the UK
took a while to”suss” this then it is not surprising that it
confused a person of NO faith like Corbyn ..
*** For why should it – it is not in their interests. Apart
from other considerations it is simpler and does not
stretch their intellect .
