A Holocaust in Gaza and a Fascist regime in Israel

JVL Introduction

Andrew Feinstein speaks about why it is unacceptable cannot normalise what is being done to the people of Gaza that we are witnessing and about which the whole world – and our politicians – are aware.  Yet the barbarism and dehumanisation is happening with the active support of western leaders, many of whom are clamping down on those opposing the genocide rather than opposing the genocide itself.  In doing so they are also making international law less and less meaningful.  Feinstein draws uncomfortable parrallels with the Nazi era in this powerful and important video.

Below the Video is a post from Owen Jones  on Keir Starmer’s expression of sympathy for theUkrainian civilian victims of Russia’s bombing in Sumy; this sums up how Palestinians are not considered equal to Ukrainians, whose humanity is, rightly, accepted.  Where is Starmer’s expression of sympathy for the tens of thousands of Palestinian people killed, maimed, orphaned and displaced in Gaza – and, indeed, the West Bank.

Gaza is a Holocaust & Israel is a Fascist State

  • I’ve lost faith in our western world leaders, their hypocrisy over what is politically advantageous to them to support, Ukraine, and what is not, Gaza and Sudan.

  • To be clear – Only the following European countries have recognised the State of Palestine :

    Sweden – October 30, 2014.

The Holy See – June 26, 2015(Holy See is not a permanent member of the UN, but holds observer status).

    Ireland – May 22, 2024.

    Norway – May 22, 2024.

    Spain – May 22, 2024.

    Slovenia – June 4, 2024.

Other European nations, such as Belgium, France and Malta, are ‘discussing’ whether and when to recognise Palestinian statehood.

To date, none of the G7 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom or the United States – do.

Let’s hope none of those countries – ‘mulling it over’ – leave it too late.

The Palestinians have been waiting for seventy-nine years, and time is running out for them.

  • My apologies! I left several European countries off the list, in my original post.

    Serbia – November 16, 1988.

    Albania – November 17, 1988.

    Slovakia – November 18, 1988.

    Czech Republic – November 18, 1988.

    Cyprus – November 18, 1988.

    Ukraine – November 19, 1988.

    Russia – November 19, 1988.

    Belarus – November 19, 1988.

    Hungary – November 23, 1988.

    Romania – November 24, 1988.

    Bulgaria – November 25, 1988.

    Poland – December 14, 1988.

    Bosnia and Herzegovina – May 27, 1992.

    Iceland – December 15, 2011.

As can be seen from this list, many of these countries were former ‘Eastern Bloc’ countries, joining under the USSR.

In total, twenty European countries have formally recognised the State of Palestine.

Worldwide, the total is one hundred and forty-eight.

I reiterate – none of these countries belong to the G7 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom or the United States.

  • Agreed with all of the above, but what worries me most at present is the lack of continuing protest here in UK. Am I just out of touch, but it seems to me that there is no big march planned till mid-May?
Efforts to bring our local borough of Camden to divest in Israel and the arms trade generally MAY possibly be continuing, although even placards have been outlawed and I have heard nothing recent. Any continuing efforts are often being organised on whatsapp or social media, often at short notice… But recently not even that is visible. NB This applies to Andrew Feinstein’s campaign as well.
I want to do more than hang my Watermelon flag in the window and buy books at Housmans!! And of course follow this marvellous JVL blog, which I rely on every day.
Please can JVL also add an activist dimension to their coverage, or are there security reasons? (I’ve just come out of two months of messed-up emails which I’ve traced to political interference against some anti-Zionist lists, so I don’t discount security caution). But I would like to be reading about actions in the UK – not just overseas – and when possible participating.

  • While WE may be hoping for a ceasefire or for the Leader of the Free World to call an end to Zionist Israel’s ethnic cleansing in Gaza, Trump appears wedded to the Judeo-Christian Zionists’ plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza. His plans are to repopulate a Gazan “Riviera” with (rich) (Jewish) Americans. Meanwhile areas of the W Bank are increasingly resembling levelled areas of Gaza

  • Nobody should be taken in by Starmer’s supposed concern for the people of Ukraine. He supports the use of depleted uranium weapons in that country which will poison the people who live there.

  • Replying to Sally : Haven’t had any faith in Western world leaders since Vietnam. And if I was even older than I am, I probably would have lost faith even earlier. Bunch of sanctimonious hypocrites.
