Can Standing Together bear the weight of its contradictions?

By Richard Kuper

At the entrance to Haifa’s International Convention Center, bereaved Palestinian families sat in silence holding portraits of their children killed as a result of the spiraling criminal violence plaguing Arab communities in Israel. Meanwhile, a few meters away, young Israeli activists handed out stickers bearing slogans that were buoyant and even hopeful, such as “Only … Continued

Building within a new Jewish community

By Richard Kuper

This is an edited version of a talk first delivered at the spoken word event Better Off Said: Eulogies for the Living and the Dead on 4 October 2025. To those I have lost – the teachers, mentors, loved ones – who once taught me what it was to be Jewish. Those who once shared … Continued

Our first antisemitic ‘Jewish President,’ Donald Trump

By Richard Kuper

U.S. President Donald Trump this week hosted leaders of the Jewish community to the traditional candle-lighting ceremony at the White House. Watching the event was, to put it mildly, like watching a sympathetic television adaptation of the forged antisemitic text about the Jewish conspiracy ruling the world – not openly, but by influencing the power … Continued

Britain’s political trials and prisoners

By Richard Kuper

A two-part post: a video by Richard Sanders on the hunger strikers for Double Down News and an article by Jonathan Cook on the Filton trial.

Both show the sheer vindictiveness at the heart of the British state, the terrifying indifference shown by Keir Starmer and David Lammy, and the way the criminal justice system is rigged to encourage punitive outcomes.

Because of Israel, no Palestinian child is safe

By Leah Levane

This report from Defence for Children International Palestine  is a catalogue of horror outlining the experience of Palestinian children in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Gaza is probably the most dangerous place to be a child at the moment, an estimated 20,000 killed and the highest number of child amputees in the world. Despite the “ceasefire” agreement, children in Gaza remain at risk of being killed by Israeli military forces and the inadequate aid being allowed through means being cold, possibly soaked in in adequate tents and still hungry.

A hasbara story: singing from the Zionist hymn sheet

By Richard Kuper

Paid and unpaid hasbara hacks miraculously use the same phrase to exploit the Bondi Beach massacre to justify their support for the Gaza genocide. Zohran Mamdani Is To Blame Mr. Mayor-Elect, when you refuse to condemn & only ‘discourage’ use of the term “Globalize the Intifada,” you help facilitate (not cause) the thinking that leads … Continued

Rachel Reeves’ failure to learn

By Leah Levane

Like the rest of the Labour leadership, Reeves is proud to call herself a zionist, which she says is  ‘…is not in spite of my belief in democracy and freedom and equality, but because of those beliefs’.  Her ignorance of the racism and ethnic cleansing enshrined in the earliest tenets of zionism is astonishing and allows her somehow to claim that this shows her commitment to democracy even though the Israeli State, even when it is not committing a genocide, denies basic human rights, including the right to vote and the right to life, for millions of Palestinians who live under the brutal Israeli occupatio

Zionism in Israel 2025 = Racism

By Richard Kuper

Do not put on glasses Neither dark nor joyful ones Look with your eyes With your eyes open One must see evil in order to fight it (Nathan Alterman) Israel is deep into an election year and the outcome is already clear. Next year the next racist government of Israel will rise. The only question … Continued

Lammy’s failures over the hunger strikers for Palestine

By Leah Levane

How can a so called Justice Secretary refuse to meet with lawyers of the hunger strikers being kept on remand for unconscionable periodss for alleged criminal damage to an Israeli weapons factory. Below the article from the Guardian is a statement from Global Jews for Palestine, with links to actions we can all take in support of the hunger strikers and against the broader clampdown on protest for Palestine.
