Students across Europe in pro-Palestinian protests

Mike Phipps has produced a useful overview of student protests across Europe with many links to articles about individual countries.
There is a particular focus on Poland, the latest country to experience protests where on May 24th, students, academics and workers at the University of Warsaw began a strike. There is a similar action at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Their demands made are now common currency across campus after campus, country after country, calling on their universities to
- condemn Israel’s attack on Gaza and its occupation of Palestine;
- break off all partnership agreements with Israeli universities, research centres, and other academic institutions;
- make information about the university’s investments in Israeli companies publicly available; and
- divest from Israeli companies profiting from the Gaza genocide and the occupation of Palestine.

Thank you for posting this brilliant news article. I really admire the brave students and academics across Europe and around the World who are now standing up and speaking out against the horrific injustice of what is going on – often in spite of the outright hostility of those in power. In this dark time when one could easily despair the instinctive moral courage of so many young people in particular is heartening and inspiring.
There is a phrase that is often used in the labour and trade union movement that illustrates the movement of students in a particular cause. “The wind blows the tops of the trees first.” The student movement over Gaza heralds a much more powerful movement that could put an end to the atrocities in Gaza. That movement will be the awakening of organised labour, the only movement that has the potential to put an end to the barbarity of the Israeli State. Potential power lies in the hands of labour which is only held back by its leaders. Shades of France 1968?
