‘Racist and Islamophobic’ policing of pro-Palestine protests

JVL Introduction

A report by Netpol, the Network for Police Monitoring, makes disturbing reading.

It shows a police force “confused” in its response to pro-Palestinian demonstrations and often responding in a threatening or racist way.

Driven by media hype and politicians’ inciteful rhetoric about “hate marches” to do “more” to contain the protests, police reaction has been inconsistent – but often characterised by racial profiling and Islamophobia.

  • This is what extreme right wing Governments do. Get the police to do their dirty work for them. Change the Laws so anyone who is out protesting is breaking the Law. Not all Police Officers agree with what they are being asked to do but if they protest, they will be putting their jobs at risk, then there are those Police Officers that relish any kind of confrontation and they are the ones that give the Police a bad name.
If we had a True Socialist Party in the Country, they would be campaigning against these Rightwing Governments but right now we don’t have one, so the Tory Party has been allowed to get away with their Police State actions.
