The Police Bill is now law – la lutte continue!

As expected the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill has now been passed. We have written before on the particular – and racist – impacts for the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller(GRT) community; here Jake Bowers writes on “What Next?”
No one is giving up the fight against these heinous restrictions, not only for the GRT community and on all of us as protest also runs the risk of criminalisation – perhaps if the police think it will be too noisy, or annoying, or disruptive!
But now the main thing is to stand in solidarity with all in Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities. “…the Drive 2 Survive campaign is now preparing to begin working to directly support Gypsies and Travellers who are very likely to have it used against them. Now that the law has been passed it will create a new offence of criminal trespass that specifically targets Gypsies and Travellers who have nowhere else to go”
